Mount Juliet (Tenn.) Lipscomb three-star defensive lineman Amir Leonard-Jean Charles has committed to West Virginia, he announced on Wednesday.

He chose the Mountaineers while also holding 15 other Power Four offers, including from the likes of Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Auburn.

Leonard-Jean Charles is the No. 781 overall prospect and No. 68 DL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 27 player in Tennessee.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pounder was coveted by many, but logged an official visit to Morgantown earlier this month and is now a part of a rising 2025 recruiting class under Neal Brown and Co. WVU has now added nine commitments in June, including its three highest-ranked pledges.

Mountaineers gunning for top-30 recruiting class

West Virginia has now more than doubled its 2025 class this month. With 16 commitments now in the mix, the class has moved up to No. 36 in the nation and No. 6 in the Big 12, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic four-star running back Deandre Desinor has been the highlight addition, as he committed on June 3 and is the No. 259 overall prospect and No. 18 RB in the cycle.

“I had a great time at West Virginia when I was up there for Junior Day on Feb. 3,” Desinor told On3 in March. “They have shown they want me, they are recruiting me hard and I loved it up there.”

West Palm Beach (Fla.) Monarch three-star EDGE Romando Johnson pledged earlier this week. He and Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal three-star cornerback Terrance Edwards flank Desinor as the three highest-ranked commits in the fold, as of June 19.

Other top commits in the class include Olney (Md.) Good Counsel three-star interior offensive lineman Gavin Crawford, Mentor (Ohio) three-star quarterback Scotty Fox, Hurricane (W.V.) three-star wide receiver Tyshawn Dues and New Haven (Conn.) Cheshire Academy three-star WR Teriq Mallory.

Mallory flipped to WVU from Wake Forest earlier this month.

“I believe WVU will prepare me to be better on and off the field,” Mallory told On3. “The impact and opportunity I will have at West Virginia is going to be phenomenal! It was no way in the world I was going to pass it up!”
