Decks Tokyo Beach

Tokyo has no shortage of impressive shopping and entertainment complexes. Still, few boast the stunning surroundings or originality of Decks Tokyo Beach, a nautical-themed mall and amusement hub offering spectacular views of Odaiba Marine Park and the Rainbow Bridge.

Decks Tokyo Beach is home to some of Odaiba’s most popular family attractions. In the inland-facing Island Mall, Legoland Discovery Center Tokyo and the free play area provide entertainment for younger children. Next door, Madame Tussauds Tokyo puts a Japanese spin on the world-famous waxwork museum by including figures of Japanese celebrities such as visual artist Yayoi Kusama alongside waxworks of global stars. However, the most exciting attraction in Decks Tokyo Beach is undoubtedly Joypolis, an original indoor amusement park combining traditional rides with VR technology for futuristic thrills.

Visitors should explore Daiba 1-Chome Shoutengai, a free recreation of a Showa-era shopping street. Treasures here include vintage game machines, a shooting gallery and a traditional dagashiya (penny candy store). This street is also home to the Tokyo Trick Art Museum and Daiba Mysterious School (a spooky haunted house attraction).

Shopping and Dining with a View

Decks Tokyo Beach is also a great place for some retail therapy. Hiking and camping enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the mall’s range of outdoor outlets, including stores such as Quicksilver and Billabong. Shoppers hoping to pick up some cute character knickknacks and kitschy souvenirs are also well-catered for.

If all this leaves visitors hungry, Decks Tokyo Beach has plenty of restaurants to choose from. One unique option is the Odaiba Takoyaki Museum, a collection of five food stalls by famous Osaka restaurants offering a taste of the delicious street food takoyaki (deep-fried octopus balls). Most restaurants in the Seaside Mall extend onto a terrace, giving diners a spectacular view over Tokyo Bay.

Outside, the Seaside Terrace is designed to evoke the feeling of walking along the deck of a luxury cruise ship. At night, the view is exceptionally breathtaking, as the Rainbow Bridge and numerous passenger boats in the bay are illuminated.
