The White House has officially confirmed that Ukrainian military forces have the right to use American weapons on the territory of Russia near both the Kharkiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine, states Michael Carpenter, Senior Director for European Affairs at the US National Security Council.

"We have stated quite clearly that this permission to use American weapons allows Ukrainians to fire in response to Russian positions directly across the border in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions," a US administration official said during a telephone briefing.

Michael Carpenter added that this way, the Russian Federation's army will be deprived of the ability to shelter its troops on its side of the border, from where it is attacking Ukrainian territory.

The F-16 fighter jets provided by the US will be stationed in Ukraine. According to White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan, the Ukrainian Armed Forces may use the provided air defense systems against Russian aircraft, even if they are in Russian airspace.

Earlier, it was reported that Denmark had allocated the nineteenth package of military aid to Ukraine. In particular, it includes more equipment to support F-16 aircraft.
