Georgia trending for nation’s No. 1 DL Justus Terry

Justus Terry Georgia

Manchester (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Justus Terry became the second five-star recruit to decommit from USC this week, announcing his decision on Wednesday.

Terry was pledged to the Trojans since March 24, when he flipped from Georgia, whom he’d been committed to since January 2023. The three-month commitment to the Trojans was a surprise, so the decommitment didn’t come as a major shocker. Especially given that Terry visited multiple other programs this spring and summer without returning to USC.

One school has been constant since he pledged to the Trojans, and that’s the Bulldogs. Despite him flipping to another program, Kirby Smart and his staff only recruited Terry harder.

And on Wednesday — not long after Terry decommitted — On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons logged an expert prediction for the Bulldogs to land him a second time.

That, along with predictions from On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and Georgia insider Jake Reuse, puts UGA as the major favorites in the Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Georgia’s pursuit of Terry has been unrelenting

“He was committed to Georgia once, he’s a Georgia boy, Georgia offered him before high school, he has those relationships. Now that this is back open, it starts with the Bulldogs and they have to be viewed as the team to beat,” Simmons said in his making his pick.

Terry returned to Athens for an official visit on May 31. He’s made multiple trips back to UGA this year and will be back in the fall as well.

“He’s been in strong communication with that staff, even when he committed to USC. The consistency hasn’t stopped on either side and UGA continues to make him a top priority. His recent OV to Athens re-established them as the top school,” added Simmons.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder has also taken an official visit to Florida State and will be at Alabama this upcoming weekend, but all roads to landing him will run through the Bulldogs it seems.

Terry is the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
