Arsenal interested in Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal are one of many Premier League clubs who have been ‘long-term admirers’ of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who is currently in talks to join Aston Villa in an audacious swap deal with Douglas Luiz.

As per the report, though, the deal is currently stalling, opening the door for another Premier League side to make a potential swoop for McKennie, with Arsenal one of the teams keeping tabs on the USA international.

Lauded as a ‘superstar’ midfielder for Juventus, the Texas-born dynamo has been key for the Old Lady since returning to Serie A from Leeds United, where McKennie last season made 38 appearances in all competitions, registering ten assists.

However, with Juventus in need of selling players, McKennie is being viewed as the player who is most likely to depart the Italian giants this summer, and Arsenal could be a good destination for the former Schalke 04 star.

McKennie could be Arsenal’s answer to their midfield problem

Arsenal are in the market for a midfield partner for Declan Rice, with a player who can operate in the no. 6 role ideally what the Gunners want to bring in this summer in their quest for new signings.

And whilst McKennie isn’t a no. 6 in the traditional sense, it is a position that the versatile US international can play, and one that Arsenal could look to exploit in their bid to resolve their midfield issues.

With Juventus open to selling, McKennie could become the answer for Arsenal in their attempt to figure out their midfield troubles, with a return to the Premier League also something that could excite the American star.
