Gabriel Martinelli shares Arsenal dressing room verdict after losing the Premier League title

Gabriel Martinelli has now shared what the Arsenal dressing room was feeling after losing the Premier League title to Manchester City.

The Gunners fell just two points short of Pep Guardiola’s side in the race for the Premier League, as Arsenal enjoyed a record-breaking season in what was a year to remember for the north London giants.

The likes of Bukayo Saka had their best years ever for Arsenal, yet even with some truly incredible moments and runs of form in the league, Mikel Arteta and his squad weren’t able to get over the finish line against City.

And Martinelli has now shared what Arsenal were feeling at the full-time whistle on the last game of the season.

Arsenal ‘sad’ after title loss with Martinelli already focused on next season

Speaking to AS, the Brazilian international expressed how Arsenal were sad to lose the title on the last day of the season, though Martinelli was quick to state how the Gunners are already lasering in on next season.

With a big summer of spending on the horizon for Arsenal, there’s good reason why the likes of Martinelli are already excited about the new season, with the Gunners potentially early favourites for the title if they can get their business done early enough.

Martinelli said when asked how Arsenal were feeling after losing the Premier League title: “The team is sad. Our team is very close-knit, we have family in London. We wanted to be champions, but because of what happened this year and what we did last season, we have to wait now.

“We wanted to win. We are devastated for not getting the title, but we take what happened to us as a learning experience. It is a very difficult league, the most difficult in the world. Now we have to focus and work as hard as possible to win next year.”

Arsenal can bounce back better than ever next season

Whilst missing out on the title was disappointing for Arsenal fans, the signs were there that next season could be the one for the Gunners given the makeup of the squad and how good Arteta had got his side playing.

And next season, Arsenal could bounce back and become better than ever, with just a few pieces missing if the Gunners are to go all the way in the Premier League title race against City.

Indeed, Arsenal are not far off from becoming a team who can surpass Guardiola and his formidable winning machine, and the right moves this summer could tip the balance in the north London side’s favour in the battle for the title.
