Russia targets power stations in attack on Ukraine, injuring 7 energy workers

On the night of June 20, Russian troops launched the seventh massive attack on Ukrainian energy facilities since March 22. The main Russian target was the power plants, according to the Ukrainian National Energy Company Ukrenergo

Russia used a combined missile and drone attack. The main target was Ukrainian power plants.

The Russian shelling damaged equipment at power facilities in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions.

In particular, there is damage to the networks of regional power companies in the Kyiv region.

The damage is currently being inspected, but emergency repair works have been launched where the security situation allows.

"Seven power engineers were injured in the Russian attacks on the two power facilities. They are currently in hospital with injuries of varying severity, one of them is in a bad condition," Ukrenergo adds.

Russian massive shelling of Ukraine on June 20

On the night of June 20, Russians attacked Ukraine with air- and ground-launched missiles and Shahed drones. In total, the Russians used 9 missiles of various types and 27 attack drones. The main area of attack was eastern Ukraine and the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare equipment, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the Russian attack. In total, they destroyed:

  • 4 Kh-101/kH-555 cruise missiles;
  • 1 Kh-59 guided missile;
  • 27 Shaheds.
