President Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff meeting, dedicated to the energy situation in Ukraine, according to the head of the state on Telegram.
According to the President, at the Supreme Commander-in-Chief meeting, reports were heard from Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, Chairman of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov, and Commander of the Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk.
"The government was instructed to develop conditions that would simplify the installation of solar panels and batteries for people, with tax and customs privileges, special credit programs," wrote Zelenskyy.
He also tasked the government with creating a strategy for the development of renewable energy and distributed generation at the state level. The President stated that all public and administrative buildings must be equipped with energy-saving technologies.
"Solar panels, smart meters, and energy storage installations should appear as soon as possible in every school and hospital. Regional military administrations were instructed to oversee this at the local level," the President said.
He noted that active preparations are currently underway for the next heating season and the restoration of infrastructure that can be rebuilt.
"We are building comprehensive protection with engineering structures, electronic warfare systems, and air defense. We are working with partners on additional Patriot systems. We are doing everything to thwart Russian attempts to blackmail with heat and light," emphasized Zelenskyy.
Power outages in Ukraine
Following Russia's attacks on thermal and hydroelectric power plants, the issue of electricity shortages in Ukraine has become pressing, prompting the authorities to implement electricity outage schedules.
Later, representatives of Ukrenergo warned that mid-summer could become the most challenging period for the energy system.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine also expanded the scope of the 5-7-9 loan program. It will now include funding for the construction and installation of gas turbine, gas pistone, and biogas generation units.
