Ukraine is working on the delivery and acquisition of several more Patriot air defense missile systems to protect against Russian shelling, according to a statement from President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The President thanked Romania for the decision to transfer Patriot systems to Ukraine.

"This is indeed a strong step. And as a result, there will be more security in our entire region, for all our neighbors. For Moldova, for the Baltic countries, and also for Romania," the President said.

He added that Ukraine is capable of defeating Russia's imperial ambitions, which will restore peace and confidence across all of Europe. According to him, efforts are underway to supply several more Patriot systems.

Advantages of the Patriot System

The Patriot anti-aircraft missile system has several key advantages. Firstly, it is effective against various airborne threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as aircraft.

Secondly, the Patriot system boasts high precision and long-range capabilities, making it capable of defending large cities and strategically important targets.

In the context of the conflict with Russia, such systems could significantly bolster Ukraine's air defense, safeguarding critical infrastructure and reducing the risk of air and missile attacks.

Today, the Supreme Defense Council of Romania has decided to transfer one Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
