Considered one of the best prospects in the upcoming MLB Draft, Florida Gators two-way star Jac Caglianone appears to have played his last game for the school with their loss in Omaha.

Following Florida’s final loss of the season at the hands of Texas A&M in Omaha, Caglianone reflected on his time at Florida, explaining that he is never going to take his time with the Gators for granted.

“Yeah, I mean, there’s really not a moment that I’ll take for granted,” Jac Caglianone said. “I can’t really pinpoint a specific one. Just like Tyler [Shelnut] said, being able to wear this jersey for the past three years has been something that I’m going to take, you know, I mean, I’m never going to take it for granted. All these guys who have worn it before us, all we try to do is just make them proud, and we really appreciate what Florida is about.”

The 2024 season ended with the Gators playing two games in one day. The first, against Kentucky, they managed to win. That earned them their second game of the day, which they lost, to Texas A&M. Between the two games, Jac Caglianone went four for six hitting with a home run and an RBI. He was also walked a total of three times.

“Just everything that Florida is, Gator Nation and all the support that they have shown us throughout this postseason has been remarkable,” Caglianone said. “But, yeah, a specific moment, there isn’t one, the whole thing, really.”

Jac Caglianone is going to leave Florida as one of the all-time great players in program history. Part of that is because of his power. After all, during Florida’s run in the College World Series, he became the program’s all-time leader in home runs, with 75 for his career. Another part is the versatility that he offered Florida, both pitching and hitting very successfully during his career.

While Caglianone does still have eligibility remaining in college, he’s expected to be an early first round selection in the MLB Draft.

Jac Caglianone explains how he wants to be remembered at Florida

Jac Caglianone knows he’s leaving a strong legacy at Florida. However, it’s most important to him to be remembered for his effort, not his talent.

“Really just as somebody who gave it their all. Day-in and day-out, I just wanted to fight for these guys next to me,” Caglianone said.

“Yeah, to be honest with you, I can’t thank the coaches here enough for all they have done to help me get to where I am today. The people that I’ve met along the way and played with? It’s something that I won’t ever take for granted. I appreciate Sully [Kevin O’Sullivan] for taking a chance on me in high school and getting to this point.”
