Connecticut Police Fly Drone Through House During Murder Investigation

Connecticut police were forced to fly a drone through a home in Voluntown on Wednesday after failing to elicit a response from anyone on the premises during the murder investigation of a man and woman.

State police said personnel from Troop E-Montville were dispatched to a home on Hell Hollow Road at approximately 11:26 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a woman.

The woman gave troopers the address of the home and said, "Emergency, I'm sorry," before hanging up.

Shortly after the call, an unresponsive man was found dead in the driveway with visible injuries, according to Fox 61.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Connecticut State Police Sgt. Luke Davis.

After troopers used megaphones to try to make contact with a woman believed to be inside and received no response, police immediately set up a perimeter around the area.

Authorities attempted to ping the cellphones of the residents who lived at the home and said they were able to detect a signal from a woman's cellphone coming from within the residence.

The drone was used to fly inside one of the windows of the house, where it discovered a woman dead in the stairwell.

Law enforcement stated the investigation was being turned over to the Eastern Major District Crimes Squad, and the identities of the deceased are not being released at this time.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, and a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents has since been lifted.
