China should be concerned about the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and North Korea, according to John Kirby, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications.

According to him, the agreement between the DPRK and Russia contradicts the statement previously made by dictator Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Kirby noted that last month, both Russia and China called for a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine.

Therefore, this agreement should cause concern in Beijing, says the White House representative.

What preceded it

Recently, Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, which stipulates immediate mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of the countries.

South Korea has already reacted to this event. Following this, Seoul decided to reconsider its policy on supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine.
