Report: Wolves now in four-club chase for exciting English starlet, Julen Lopetegui also keen

Wolves have now been linked with an exciting English youngster, as the club continue to prepare for the 2024/25 season.

Gary O’Neil has enjoyed a positive start to the summer, with Wolves landing three players.

Tommy Doyle turned his loan move from Manchester City. Then Rodrigo Gomes was brought in from Braga. And the club will be signing Pedro Lima from Sport Recife on July 1, after an agreement was reached earlier this week.

Clearly, there is an emphasis for Wolves and acquiring young prospects.

Following the success of Joao Gomes at Molineux it was reported that Wolves would be focusing on trying to bring in unpolished players with serious potential.

And Wolves have seemingly now targeted someone they feel could be a top player in the future.

It has been claimed by Football Transfers that Wolves are one of several clubs taking an interest in Rangers’ young talent Archie Stevens.

Stevens has been with the Scottish giants since the summer of 2022, joining from Wimbledon.

He has only made one first-team appearance so far, but the feeling is that Stevens could become a top player in the future. He is already an England youth international, and played at the U17 World Cup last November.

Football Transfers say that Wolves are keen on the 18-year-old.

But interest in him is plentiful, with Nottingham Forest, West Ham United – managed by former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui now, of course – and Leeds United all circling.

Interest in Stevens is high not only because he’s an exciting talent with big potential. But he is also about to enter into the final year of his contract, meaning there’s a potential bargain to be had by someone.

He is considered one of the brightest prospects on the books at Ibrox at the moment.

Wolves have a good chance of signing Stevens

Although there is a lot of competition for Stevens, Wolves have a decent chance of snapping up the youngster.

In recent times, young players have been given opportunities at Molineux, and that will potentially be something that appeals to the teenager.

We saw last season how Nathan Fraser, Leon Chiwome and Tawanda Chirewa were all given their debuts by Gary O’Neil.

So the manager is not opposed to giving youth a chance, and this could prove key for Stevens when he comes to make his decision this summer.
