Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki said Friday Japan will maintain close communication with the United States and other nations over currency policy after his country was put back on Washington's currency manipulator watch list.
Speaking at a press conference, Suzuki said the United States' decision does not mean it sees Japan's currency policy as "problematic," as the designation was made automatically by taking into account such factors as Japan's trade surplus with the United States.
