‘Genuinely shocked’: Daniel Sturridge can’t believe what he has just seen involving Cole Palmer at Euro 2024

Chelsea players have found the start of Euro 2024 pretty difficult to make their mark and the tournament their own.

Romelu Lukaku came in for plenty of criticism for his display in the opening game, however supporters were a little more sympathetic to the efforts of Mykhailo Mudryk in Ukraine’s losing effort.

The only country to have two Chelsea representatives is England, with both Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher out in Germany.

Neither have started a game for their nation yet, with the club captain for the majority of last season being used as the first sub in both matches.

Some have been left perplexed by the treatment of Palmer, after he enjoyed one of the best first seasons at a new club in Premier League history.

One figure who has shared just how confused he is about it all is Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge shocked Palmer is yet to play at Euro 2024

The former Blues striker took to Twitter to share how he was stunned he hadn’t seen the Chelsea man on the pitch yet.

He said: “I’m genuinely shocked we haven’t seen Cole Palmer grace the field yet.”

The youngster is already primed to have another season where he is the key man at Stamford Bridge, this time for new manager Enzo Maresca instead of Mauricio Pochettino.

Palmer set to play Number 10 role next season

If reports are to be believed, it could be a spell in the number 10 role as opposed to out wide, however this may depend on if they sign their top transfer target right now.

It has been claimed that they are very interested in bringing in Michael Olise, who would seem to fit exactly the system the former Leicester City boss is known for.

The Frenchman would certainly be an upgrade on Noni Madueke, despite his strong end to last season at Stamford Bridge that saw him become a regular.
