Report: Everton are starting to think that 'outstanding' player will still be at Goodison Park next season after all

Everton are now becoming increasingly confident of a well-documented summer transfer saga falling their way in the coming weeks.

As soon as the curtain fell on the 2023/24 season, transfer rumour, as always, immediately took centre stage at Goodison Park.

Thus far, several players have been linked with moves away from Merseyside. Amadou Onana is reportedly keen on a switch to Barcelona, and Jordan Pickford has also attracted attention from elsewhere.

However, as all Evertonians are aware, Jarrad Branthwaite has been the story of the summer thus far.

The Cumbrian has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the summer and reportedly agreed personal terms last week.

Branthwaite, who has been hailed as “outstanding” by Jamie Carragher, has been the subject of a bid from United as INEOS look to stamp their authority at Old Trafford.

However, despite the bid, a fresh report from i News, has claimed the Toffees are now confident that the 22-year-old will remain at Goodison Park.

It’s believed the Blues value Branthwaite nearer the £80million make and that United are unwilling to budge from their current valuation.

i News also suggest there’s no chance of Everton lowering their current asking price.

Superb news for Evertonians

With a new takeover on the cards and Branthwaite now set to remain at Goodison Park, it’s certainly been a positive few days for Evertonians.

It’s amazing what a couple of weeks can do in football.

At the start of the month, 777 Partners’ protracted takeover was rumbling on, and there was a strong possibility of some of Sean Dyche’s star men departing.

Now, with fresh ideas imminently set to fill the boardroom, Evertonians can begin to feel mildly optimistic about the future of the club moving forward.
