Chris Sutton reacts to Cole Palmer's latest England snub with 10-word message

Chris Sutton is the latest to weigh into the debate regarding Chelsea’s Cole Palmer after he was yet again overlooked by England at Euro 2024.

There’s still time for Cole Palmer to make his mark at this summer’s major international tournament, but things are looking quite bleak for him at the moment.

Palmer, 22, has failed to get off the bench in either of England’s opening two group stage matches, including in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Denmark.

The Chelsea playmaker will have to remain patient waiting for his chance to impress. It’s quite obvious that he’s down the pecking order right now, though.

England manager Gareth Southgate used Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze and Ollie Watkins as his attacking substitutions versus Denmark, while Palmer watched on from the bench.

Chris Sutton reaction as Chelsea star is ignored

Pundit Chris Sutton posted an interesting 10-word message on X about Palmer’s latest England snub at the Euros.

He sounds baffled that Southgate didn’t use the Chelsea talisman during England’s match against Denmark.

It does seem quite remarkable that Palmer is still unused at this stage of the tournament, especially when his England teammates are lacking any great fluency on the pitch.

England could do with Cole Palmer spark

Chelsea supporters will be able to tell you that Palmer impacts almost any game he participates in. His record last season of 40 combined goals and assists in 45 Blues appearances speaks for itself.

England managed just four shots on target in the Denmark draw (BBC). Previously, they could only put up three shots on target in the Serbia win (BBC).

If Southgate’s team is serious about going deep into this competition, surely that will need to improve drastically.

You’ve got a talented player in Palmer sat on the bench who’s coming into this summer fresh off the season of his life, where he almost single-handedly dragged Chelsea to sixth spot in the Premier League

It would be a travesty if he gets no game time out in Germany for the Euros.
