The Wurkun Youth Association of Nigeria, WUYAN, have appealed to the Nigeria Police, to as a matter of urgency address the various killings that recently took place in Usmanu village of Karim-Lamido local government council of Taraba State.

Making the appeal on Friday at a press conference which took place in Jalingo, the group noted that the killings in the area have become alarming.

The group also advocated peaceful coexistence among the Wurkus and other tribes, noting that bringing perpetrators of various killings to book, would go a long way to bring peace.

Led by its National President, Hussaini Audu Zuppai and its secretary, Issah Danladi Maiyaki, urged the police to tread extra legitimate miles to uncover those behind the killings of November 15; 2023, January 11, 2024 and June 2, 2024.

Reeling out the long lists of persons whose lives have been terminated in the community, they said the unbecoming killing of Wurkuns in Usmanu village, could be brought to an end by the security agencies.

“Nobody is above the law, and the intelligent professional prowess of the Nigerian security agencies can never be undermined in times of detection and prosecution of crimes including conviction of criminals”.

”We also want to call on the Commissioner of Police to deploy skilled and well-trained personnel to restore sanity and uphold the dignity and integrity of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, in Usmanu village.

While applauding the governor’s unrelenting efforts in ensuring lasting peace in the state, they raised the need to consider the plight of the people of Usmanu village and deploy adequate security reinforcement to safeguard the lives and property of the people.
