Here’s how to fix can’t access Elden Ring DLC error

Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree DLC was released for all on June 21, but some players still can’t access Elden Ring due to an error. Here’s how to fix it.

Elden Ring DLC is easily one of the most anticipated expansions to an RPG of all time. Naturally, when it was launched on June 21, streamers and casual players rushed to get their hands on the DLC firsthand. However, some players have failed to access the game.

Since the release, some players across different platforms have complained about a “can’t access Elden Ring” error preventing them from playing the DLC.

Why can’t I access Elden Ring DLC?

Can’t access Elden Ring DLC is a common bug, likely resulting from licensing issues. However, there can be other reasons as well. To prevent the bug, make sure your game is up to date. Bandai Namco recently rolled out patch 1.12 for Elden Ring, which adds support for Shadow of Erdtree DLC. If you didn’t get the update, you won’t be able to access the DLC.

Secondly, if you’re on PS5, try power cycling. You may do it by shutting down your device and then leaving it unplugged for a few minutes. If both of these fixes don’t work, you may want to download the DLC manually from the appropriate channel based on your platform.

Here’s how:

  • PlayStation 5: Restore Licenses from your account settings.
  • Xbox Series X/S: Download the DLC separately from the Elden Ring game card.
  • PC (Microsoft Store): Download Elden Ring DLC from the Microsoft Store.

This should resolve the issue, and you may enjoy Elden Ring DLC without any further errors.

How to start playing Elden Ring DLC

You should be able to start Elden Ring DLC at any level, as long as you have beaten the two bosses: Mohg and Radahn.

Even if you haven’t previously finished Elden Ring, you can still play the new DLC after downloading the new patch 1.12. However, you will have to beat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood. To do that, players are recommended to be at least level 90 to be able to beat the two foes. But it’s not a requirement.

Once you’re past two bosses, you will be able tointeract with the arm of Miquella in Mohg’s boss arena. This will open access to the Land of Shadow, where you will spawn in a cave and get your hands on the Blade of Mercy to begin your journey.
