Derby County set to bring in new staff member after Leeds exit, he's confirmed the move on social media

Derby County are set to raid fellow Championship club Leeds United for a new staff member.

Paul Warne’s side are looking to prepare for the new Championship season after achieving automatic promotion from League One at the second time of asking.

Derby County have been linked with potential new figures on-and-off the pitch, including the likes of Josh Windass and Karamoko Dembele, the latter of which had a brilliant season in League One for Blackpool and is set to be released by his parent club.

Warne has been busy behind the scenes ahead of the campaign as he looks set to be joined by one of Leeds United’s backroom staff ahead of the 2024/25 season after he took to social media.

Leeds United have since responded by saying that he left ‘to pursue a new career opportunity’.

Derby County swoop for Leeds United figure Rob Price

Rob Price, formerly of the North-Yorkshire outfit has joined Derby County as the Sports science and medical lead.

Price took to LinkedIn to announce himself that he had taken up the role, before Leeds United then announced the departure.

Price had been in his role with Leeds United since 2018, having previously worked at both Hull City and Liverpool.

Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear said: “We all have great respect and appreciation for Rob, and naturally we are disappointed to see him leave the club, but we wish him every success in the future.”

Rob Price’s experience at the top level can be crucial for Derby County

The 51-year-old oversaw six years as the head of medicine at Hull City, in which he joined in the year of their promotion back in 2012/13.

His first notable role also included a spot in the national team youth set-up, as he was England U21’s physiotherapist for over four years.

During Price’s six years at Leeds United, he was kept busy with some major injuries.

A notable injury this season that impacted the shape of Leeds’ season was the absence of Pascal Struijk, who last played a match on Boxing day.

He also oversaw the injuries to Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas during the Covid-19 pandemic, in which they showed their praise for Price.

It’s safe to say that Price has had his work cut out for him over the years and this experience will be crucial for Derby County if they are on the receiving end of some costly injuries.
