Kyle Rittenhouse’s sister pleads for $3000 to avoid eviction: 'Unimaginable hardship'

In right-wing media, Kyle Rittenhouse was exalted as a hero after shooting three Black Lives Matter protestors — two of them fatally — during George Floyd-related protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 25, 2020. Many liberal and progressive outlets, however, attacked Rittenhouse as a "vigilante."

During his criminal trial, Rittenhouse's defense team argued that he acted in self-defense. And a jury in Kenosha, in November 2021, acquitted him on charges of homicide, attempted homicide and reckless endangerment.

Rittenhouse has been treated like a celebrity by Fox News and other right-wing media outlets. But now, according to Newsweek, his sister Faith Rittenhouse is trying to raise $3000 on a crowdfunding website GoFundMe because of his "unwillingness to provide or contribute to our family."

Faith posted that she and her mother, Wendy, are facing eviction from their home.

Newsweek's James Bickerton reports, "Faith's fundraiser was posted on Go Fund Me on May 30, and it's accompanied by a photograph of her being treated at a medical facility. In the accompanying message, Faith claimed she and her mother had struggled to maintain employment following the Kenosha shooting, saying they were now being threatened with eviction."

Faith Rittenhouse posted, "Our family has been through unimaginable hardships, and now we find ourselves on the brink of losing everything. Just under 4 years ago, our lives were shattered when my brother was involved in a tragic shooting incident. The aftermath of this event uprooted our family's stability and left us grappling with grief, trauma, and the harsh reality of starting over. We know that we are not the only family struggling to rebuild after that fateful night."

Kyle Rittenhouse's sister also wrote, "In the wake of this tragedy, my family, among many other families, has faced countless challenges. We've had difficulty obtaining and maintaining employment due to the fact many people still believe my mother drove Kyle or was somehow involved in his decision to go to Kenosha. We've struggled emotionally, mentally, and financially to piece our lives back together."
