Colorado restaurant crafts specialty burger for 5-star QB Julian Lewis

Ground beef will take on a distinctly aerial moniker in Boulder, Colorado this weekend.

‘Juju’s Precision Pass Burger’ will be making its debut at The Sink — a Boulder burger restaurant dating back to 1923 — in time for an official visit from Carrollton (Ga.) five-star quarterback Julian Lewis.

Lewis has been committed to USC since August but has continued to take in the full recruiting experience by taking visits to programs around the country. This weekend, Lewis will be at Colorado for his fourth official visit.

The 6-foot-0, 186-pound Lewis previously took official visits to Indiana, USC and Auburn.

More on Lewis’ interest in Colorado

Lewis spoke about the Buffs last month at the On3 Elite Series in Nashville.

“I really like it out there. Boulder is a nice area, it’s good people. Great fanbase.”

The draw that Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has for top recruits around the country has been apparent since his time at Jackson State. That hasn’t changed since he got to Boulder. Lewis has also built a solid relationship with Deion’s son and Buffaloes quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.

“Overall, Colorado is probably the biggest name popping right now,” Lewis said. “They’ve got a lot going on in terms of Coach Prime, Shedeur, all those guys in terms of media and stuff. The season Shedeur had last year was kind of unexpected from my standpoint. Just getting to talk to Shedeur about his whole process and all that stuff just kind of opened my eyes to the situation of Colorado. Because I didn’t even think of Colorado until Coach Prime and all them moved there.”

Colorado offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur joined the staff last season as an analyst but took over as coordinator down the stretch. Shurmur enjoyed a long NFL coaching career before heading to Boulder, including stints as head coach for the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.

Now entering his first full season as OC, that experience is key.

“He’s a great guy. He moved in end of last season or something like that, that’s what they were saying,” Lewis said of Shurmur. “He’s like. . . (Auburn quarterbacks coach Kent) Austin. Coach Shurmur’s been in the game a while. He’s had some guys around him, he’s dealt with the best. He’s been there for a while, and gets along with Shedeur.”
