In 2025, Gene Haas will have a NASCAR Cup Series team. The longtime team owner will retain a single charter for next season. Now, we know what manufacturer and sponsor Haas Factory Team is eyeing for their debut next year.

No word on who the driver will be. However, it feels almost guaranteed that it will end up being Cole Custer with his father Joe Custer being hired as the president of Haas Factory Team.

Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports spoke to Joe Custer about the plans the team has for 2025. Custer said that the team plans on remaining with Ford. They are a manufacturer for Ford teams in the Xfinity Series and it makes sense for them to remain in that role.

Haas Tooling and Haas Automation will be the primary sponsor of the new team. That also makes a lot of sense. Something interesting to note: Custer told Pockrass that they are searching for sponsorship for the two Xfinity Series cars.

Now, Haas sponsors Cole Custer in the Xfinity Series week in and out. He also has some associate sponsors that pick up a weekend or two here and there. Riley Herbst is set with Monster Energy as far as sponsorship goes. Does this mean we will see Herbst go elsewhere in 2025? Just a little speculation for you.

While it will be strange not having Stewart-Haas Racing in 2025, Haas Factory Team could be fun. If they focus in and get the car dialed in, then why can’t they be competitive for a playoff spot?

In a statement announcing Haas Factory Team, Gene Haas confirmed that he wanted to remain in NASCAR. Why? For the sake of his other businesses. So, he will remain as a one-car owner for the near future.

Haas Factory Team important for other Haas entities

Of course, Gene Haas is invested in F1 as well as NASCAR. When he isn’t traveling the world with his F1 team or the United States with his other teams, then he has other businesses to run.

It is no secret that Haas Tooling and Automation have played a big role in SHR’s time as an organization. That marketing and branding is valuable enough for Gene to want to hold onto a Cup Series charter.

“My commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement. Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.”

So, how will this new team pan out? Will there be enough effort to make it a competitive ride? How would Cole Custer do in his second Cup Series tenure?
