Ole Miss football is a hot commodity and trendy pick in nearly every preseason magazine, website and publication that previews the 2024 college football season.

The Rebels are, potentially, the hottest they have been since being a preseason Top 10 team in 2009 and national contention aspirations are seemingly higher 15 years later with the program hovering around a preseason Top 5 ranking come August.

All the buzz, pomp and circumstance continues for Ole Miss with BetOnline releasing its win totals for all 16 Southeastern Conference teams and the oddsmakers continue to have high hopes for the Rebels with a win total set at 9.5.

Ole Miss is given -135 odds at going over the projected win total and +105 at staying finishing with nine wins or less this Fall. If BetOline and other sportsbooks that have a similar win total is correct then the Rebels are heading for their third double-digit win season in four years.

Reaching at least 10 wins this season would mark the first time a stretch like this was achieved by the program since 1959 to 1962, when Ole Miss won its three national championships.

The Rebels only hit 10 wins one other time over the next 60 years until doing so again in 2003. Since then the program has only hit double-digit wins three other times in 2015, 2021 and 2023.

Going at least 10-2 is what it will take for Ole Miss to contend for a spot in the new 12-team College Football Playoff format. Anything less would be tough to consider putting the Rebels in.

“This is THE year for Ole Miss,” On3 college football analyst Cody Bellaire said. “If there was ever a time for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels to make a national title run, this is it. Jaxson Dart back. Phenomenal skill group. Invested a ton in the trenches via the portal. And with this schedule? Ole Miss is in the College Football Playoff.”

The CFP is another area where experts, prognosticators and Las Vegas view Ole Miss in a favorable light. Fan Duel released new odds for teams to make it into the CFP field and the Rebels have the seventh best odds at -125.

Ohio State (-650), Georgia (-500), Oregon (-250), Texas (-230), Notre Dame (-170) and Penn State (-145) are ahead of the Rebels, according to FanDuel.
