It’s been a busy month for Elkhart (Ind.) Central four-star EDGE Mariyon Dye. The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder has already logged three official visits in June and is back on the road for his fourth this weekend.
Tennessee has the elite Hoosier State standout on campus this time around. The Volunteers made Dye’s top eight schools last month and are looking to make another splash this weekend. Dye has already taken OVs to Purdue, Michigan and Ohio State.
He arrived on Rocky Top on Friday afternoon and is a headlining visitor for Josh Heupel and the Vols’ staff.
“The relationship piece,” Dye said of what stands out about Tennessee at the On3 Elite Series last month. “I’ve been down there three or four times. That really feels like home. My relationship with the coaches and how they say they’ll use me.”
“When I’m there it feels like a winning program,” he added. “The way the coaches carry themselves and the way the players carry themselves.”
Aiming for an August commitment, Dye is amidst a crucial phase of his recruitment. Programs are looking to make their case this summer with the hopes of landing one of the most impressive prospects in the 2025 class.
“Mariyon Dye may have been the first off the bus’ prospect on hand,” On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote last month. “(Mariyon) measured in at 6-foot-4.75, 268 pounds.
…Dye had the longest arms on hand at 35.5 inches, along with an elite 7-foot-1 wingspan to go with a 10-inch hand. A jumbo athlete with elite length to go with plus athleticism, Dye is one of the more physically-gifted prospects in the 2025 cycle.”
Dye is the No. 165 overall prospect and No. 22 EDGE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks Dye much higher than other recruiting services, however.
He checks in at No. 40 overall, No. 5 at the EDGE position and is the No. 1 player in Indiana, according to the updated 2025 On300.
Tennessee Class Breakdown
With July coming quick, Tennessee now has commitments from 12 prospects and a class that ranks No. 13 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
When looking at the Vols’ 2025 class, all eyes point toward Nashville Brentwood four-star quarterback George MacIntyre. The No. 4 QB and No. 1 player in Tennessee in the cycle, he will likely headline the Vols’ class for the entirety of the year.
“I’m ready to give my all to Tennessee and rep the home team every Saturday,” MacIntyre told On3 upon his commitment.
MacIntyre is one of seven commits on the offensive side of the ball for Tennessee. Southlake (Texas) Carroll four-star tight end Jack Van Dorselaer is a top-250 recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking, while Buford (Ga.) three-star running back Justin Baker is a top-50 player at his position.
Memphis Sheffield four-star wide receiver Radarious Jackson is one of the latest additions to the class, as he chose the in-state school over Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He is On3’s No. 79 overall prospect and No. 12 WR in the cycle.
On March 28, Nashville Ensworth four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley joined the fold as the second highest-ranked pledge, choosing the Vols over Michigan, Texas and others. Dandridge (Tenn.) Jefferson County four-star IOL Nic Moore committed on June 20 and is a top-250 recruit in the On300.
