Russia hits Ukraine with missiles and drones: Air defense response

Russia launched a combined strike on Ukraine on the night of June 22. The occupiers fired 16 different types of missiles and 13 kamikaze drones, reports the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Oleshchuk, on Telegram.

The Russians once again attacked critical infrastructure objects in various regions of Ukraine. In total, the enemy used:

  • 10 Kh-101/ Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aviation aircraft (launch area - Saratov region);
  • 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles (from Crimea);
  • 4 Kalibr cruise missiles (from the Black Sea waters);
  • 13 kamikaze drones (launch areas - Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Balaklava - Crimea).

Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 25 targets, including:

  • 7 Kh-101/ Kh-555 cruise missiles;
  • 4 Kalibr cruise missiles;
  • 1 Iskander-K cruise missile;
  • 13 Shahed-type attack drones.

Details on the aftermath of the attack

Tonight, enemy missiles and drones reached western regions of Ukraine. Specifically, an educational institution was attacked in Ivano-Frankivsk region, and a fire broke out in Volyn region.

Additionally, energy facilities were targeted in Zaporizhzhia and Lviv regions. Two energy workers were injured as a result of the attack.
