Report: West Ham United now want to sign £11m Man City player this summer

Manchester City have shown in previous summer transfer windows that they have no qualms when it comes to selling players to other Premier League clubs.

For example, the Blues have sold players such as Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus to fellow top-flight sides.

Despite their unbothered approach to strengthening their Premier League rivals, Pep Guardiola’s side have still remained the dominant force in English football, becoming the first side to win four league trophies in a row in their previous campaign.

With the latest summer transfer window underway, another one of City’s Premier League colleagues have thrown themselves into the race to land a deal for one of the Manchester club’s current players.

West Ham United join the race to sign Sergio Gomez

A recent report from Caught Offside has named West Ham United as one of the clubs, alongside Roma, Real Sociedad, Real Betis and Sevilla that have an interest in signing Sergio Gomez from City this summer.

The Citizens signed the Spaniard from Anderlecht back in the 2022 summer transfer window in a deal worth £11m.

Having made 38 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, the 23-year-old has only started 14 of them.

In fact, looking back over City’s previous Premier League campaign, the full-back only played a combined total of 48 minutes from six substitute appearances.

City should sell Gomez

Even though Gomez said back in July how much he’s enjoyed working with and learning from Guardiola, perhaps a move away from City this summer to a side where he’s more likely to play regularly would be the best next step for him and his career.

Now that West Ham are reportedly in the mix to land a potential deal for Gomez, we feel that if the Hammers or any other club were to present City with a suitable offer for the defender, the Premier League champions should look to move him out so he can hopefully become a prominent figure in another team.
