Two more countries have joined the declaration of Ukraine's first Peace Summit. Barbados and the Marshall Islands have endorsed the declaration, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Twitter account.
"I am grateful to Barbados and the Republic of the Marshall Islands for joining the final communiqué of the inaugural Peace Summit," stated the head of state.
Zelenskyy looks forward to collaborating with the island nations on issues concerning environmental and food security.
These are the fifth and sixth new signatures under the communiqué following the inaugural Peace Summit. The President emphasized that Ukraine continues to work towards increasing their number.
"We value our partners from island nations and call on everyone to join us in developing a vision of fair peace for Ukraine and all countries worldwide. Everyone can make their contribution," added Zelenskyy.
First Peace Summit
The first Ukrainian Peace Summit took place last weekend in Switzerland. It was attended by representatives from 100 countries and organizations.
The summit resulted in the adoption of a joint declaration. Not all participants supported it. Specifically, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, India, Mexico, South Africa, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates declined to sign the communiqué.
Ukraine did not exclude Russia's participation in the second Peace Summit. However, the Foreign Minister emphasizes that direct contacts with the aggressor country will not occur.
