Pundit Clinton Morrison has been critical of one player at Euro 2024 who is believed to be a target for Arsenal this summer.
The Gunners are yet to make a signing since the opening of the transfer window earlier this month, though rumours surrounding who Arsenal could bring in have intensified, with Victor Gyokeres the latest name in the spotlight.
With the Euros currently ongoing, it’s no real surprise that Arsenal have already been linked with a number of players who have impressed at the tournament, such as Turkish wonderkid Arda Guler.
Yet one player rumoured to be on Arsenal’s radar is failing to live up to expectations.
Arsenal-linked Artem Dovbyk criticised for Ukraine performance vs Slovakia
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Republic of Ireland striker Morrison was critical of Artem Dovbyk’s performance for Ukraine against Slovakia, with the Girona striker again failing to find the back of the net.
La Liga’s top goalscorer this season, Arsenal have been rumoured with a move for Dovbyk as a cost-effective alternative to the likes of Gyokeres, with the Ukrainian hitting an impressive 25 goals in all competitions.

However, the Girona talisman is yet to find his feet at the Euros, and Morrison was far from impressed with what he saw from the Ukraine attacker against Slovakia, with Dovbyk yet to set the tournament alight.
Morrison said on Dovbyk’s performance: “Artem Dovbyk has to be doing better for Ukraine. He was the top scorer in Spain last season but on the evidence of this first half his movement needs to improve. He needs to be making more runs for his side to pick out.”
Dovbyk’s moment will come for Ukraine at Euro 2024
Dovbyk was one of the breakout stars of the 2023/24 season as the Ukrainian striker fired Girona to an unlikely UEFA Champions League finish, creating history and potentially laying down the groundwork for a new force in Spanish football.
Whilst the forward is yet to come good at the Euros, Dovbyk’s moment will come for Ukraine, who after their win against Slovakia now look like a safe bet to qualify for the round of 16 stage of the tournament.
Indeed, Dovbyk has shown sparks at the Euros this summer, and whilst Morrison wasn’t impressed with the Arsenal-linked forward’s display, the 27-year-old attacker will have more opportunities to show his quality.

With Arsenal players such as Kai Havertz and Kieran Tierney experiencing mixed starts to the tournament, the pair assessed which Gunners were the winners and losers from the group stages so far.
