Report: Everton in hunt for 'electric' Dutch ace who could be sold for £21m

The transfer wheels are very much in motion at Goodison Park as Everton kickstart their summer business.

Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam was confirmed as the Toffees’ first addition on Saturday, signing a three-year deal for a reported fee of £9million.

Elsewhere, Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh is also believed to be of interest after the 19-year-old impressed whilst on loan with Feyenoord last year.

Regarding exits, reports suggest the Magpies are closing in on a deal for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and that Lewis Dobbin is nearing a switch to Aston Villa.

Despite the potential outgoings, Everton have now been linked with an exciting prospect from Turkey.

According to Caught Offside, a publication that works closely with Fabrizio Romano, the Toffees are battling West Ham United and Napoli for Fenerbahce defender Jayden Oosterwolde.

It’s believed West Ham have already held talks with the player’s representatives.

However, the report also suggested the Toffees won’t be rushed into making a move as a result.

Another crucial piece of information suggests that a bid of £21m could “seriously” test Fenerbahce’s position over their impressive defender.

Jayden Oosterwolde an exciting rumour for Evertonians

According to Ben Mattinson, a former scout and analyst for clubs in Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Italy and England, the 23-year-old has “electric” pace and can operate in central defence and left back.

Furthermore, Mattinson suggests the Dutchman also has an aerial presence and could come in the same mould as Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven.

Another central defensive option is certainly not a bad idea for Sean Dyche heading into the new season.

Beyond Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski, the Toffees’ options aren’t particularly plentiful.

Bringing in another younger player, who can be developed and provide cover, could be an option as transfer activity ramps up.
