Maharashtra: Woman kidnapped by husband, in-laws in Pune; booked

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], June 22 (ANI): In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly kidnapped by her husband and in-laws in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune in daylight, according to the police on Saturday.

The incident came to light after CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media.

As per the CCTV footage, the woman was forcibly dragged and put inside a car on June 19.

According to the complaint filed with the police, the incident took place on June 19. The woman who was working at a real estate company in Pimpri-Chinchwad's Wakad area was kidnapped from her office.

She was kidnapped by her husband, identified as Sumit Shahane, and her in-laws after a fight at her office. While fighting, the husband allegedly told his wife that you needed to accompany the family to sign the divorce papers.

However, the wife resisted, after which the husband and in-laws dragged the woman forcefully to sit in the car.

After the footage went viral on social media, the police booked the husband and her in-laws after the woman lodged a complaint. The complaint also mentioned that the husband beat the woman, gave her anaesthesia and allegedly made her sign some documents.

When the vehicle used to kidnap her halted at a temple in the Manchar area, the woman sought the help of a local to alert the police, who later rescued her.

Based on the complaint of the woman, the police have filed an FIR at Wakad Police Station of the Pimpri Chinchwad under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 365, 323 and 328 to probe the case further.
