Cameron Young just completed a major accomplishment on the golf course, shooting a score of 59 strokes in the Travelers Championship, the lowest score in a PGA Tour round since 2020.

“Savor the moment, Cameron, the announcer roared as Young sunk his final putt on Saturday afternoon. “You’ve just recorded the 13th sub-60 round in the history of the PGA Tour. What a fabulous round of golf that was.

Take a look at Young’s mid-range stroke to cap off his historic round of play:

Young’s monster -11 round on Saturday immediately thrust him into contention as he was able to move from -2 at the start of the day all the way to -13, tied for the lead at the time of his finish with Tom Kim, who had yet to even tee off when Young finished up on the 18th green.

Thankfully, Young struck gold on Saturday and not the day before, since there was a weather delay that impacted much of Friday’s action. Thankfully, though, it was all blue skies for Cam Young.

Elsewhere, as mentioned, Tom Kim has jumped out to an early lead in the event, firing a 13-under par so far after carding a 62 and 65 in his first two rounds. It marked his fifth round of 62 or better on the PGA Tour, with each of those coming in different tournaments.

Collin Morikawa, Akshay Batia, Xander Schauffele, and Scottie Scheffler aren’t far behind. Morikawa sits at 11-under after firing a 66 and 63 in his first two rounds. Batia is tied with Morikawa and Scheffler at 11-under par. And Schauffele sits at -10 under par after carding two 65s in his first two rounds.

Many wondered how long it would take Scheffler to bounce back from his very poor showing at the 2024 U.S. Open (he finished T41st). The answer so far, has been not long at all. Scheffler has carded a 65 and 64 in the first two rounds at the Travelers, putting him only two shots off the lead.

He’s been having one of the most dominant seasons in PGA Tour history and while he played very uncharacteristically at Pinehurst No. 2, that seems to be behind him. Scheffler has been flat-out ridiculous in 2024, tallying five wins and finishing with 12 Top 10 finishes. Keep in mind, those numbers are from 14 events thus far. And he’s also managed to finish runner-up twice.

Collin Morikawa continues to show that he’s among the best players in the world when he’s dialed in. He’s been impressive in the majors this year, T3 at The Masters, T4 at the PGA Championship, and T14 at the US Open.
