McDonogh 35 (New Orleans) 2026 wide receiver Jakai Anderson has committed to LSU, giving the Tigers a second commitment for the 2026 class over the past 24 hours.
On Friday evening, Edna Karr (New Orleans) 4-star defensive tackle Richard Anderson committed to the LSU staff. The pair of Louisiana prospects are the first two commitments for the Tigers for next year’s recruiting cycle.
Anderson, who landed an offer from the LSU staff during his sophomore season in 2023, picked LSU after reeling in double-digit college scholarship offers. The Tigers were the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) favorite ahead of his college reveal, including a prediction this week from The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon.
Anderson, a versatile athlete who could play on both sides of the ball, is being recruited to LSU by wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton.
“I think this is great this is a great opportunity for me and just seeing that a SEC school sees a lot of potential in me,” Anderson told The Bengal Tiger staff. “They show a lot of love out there for sure.”
Beyond taking part in multiple LSU camps in June, Anderson was also at the program’s summer camp a year ago, and he then took in multiple games in Tiger Stadium, including LSU’s win over Florida.
Anderson said the combination of LSU’s program, proximity to home, success on the offensive side of the ball and work done by Cortez Hankton and LSU coach Frank Wilson put the Tigers in a great spot from the start.
“I have to say LSU has an amazing campus,” Anderson said. “They make me feel like a Tiger already and I’m only a sophomore. I mainly like how dominant they are in the passing game.”
