'Spurs love him': Alasdair Gold says there's a player at the Euros other than Calafiori who Spurs really want

Tottenham’s search for new players remains ongoing and Alasdair Gold has suggested one of the Euros top defenders is firmly on their radar.

Spurs are keen to add new players this summer and have already made a move to bring in Timo Werner, while Lucas Bergvall will also join the squad after singing last season.

However, Ange Postecoglou wants even more business done ad he’s keen to see high calibre players arrive to strengthen the squad and first-team.

A number of positions have been identified by Postecoglou and his scouting network.

And according to Alasdair Gold, one of England’s top performers is a player Spurs would love to sign.

Tottenham would ‘love’ to sign Marc Guehi

Answering questions in his Q&A for Football.London, Gold was asked about interest in Guehi from the Tottenham end.

And while Gold admitted he’s a player Spurs ‘love’, it seems a deal is hard to do.

“Spurs love him but he’ll be big money this summer, chased by every top club going and Tottenham aren’t really prioritising a centre-back as an immediate big money signing this summer unless someone major left, which is not expected at this point,” Gold said.

“Also, I’d be stunned if Palace let him go on top of Olise and Eze with their release clauses.”

Who else is keen on Marc Guehi?

Given his performances for Crystal Palace and the fact he has impressed with England at the Euros, it is little wonder clubs like Tottenham are keen.

But there are more than just Spurs keen as Gold says here and the money involved makes this an expensive deal to do.

Liverpool are admirers of Guehi, while Manchester United’s interest in the 23-year-old is well known as well.

Tottenham are also keen on Italian centre-back Riccardo Calafiori, who could well be plenty cheaper than Guehi.

Guehi, then, is going to be one of the prize captures this summer and with Spurs juggling their budget, he might end up being just out of reach.
