Manchester United wonderkid Amir Ibragimov had a week he will never forget over the weekend. He met Wayne Rooney, and one of the all-time sporting greats.
Amir Ibragimov looks set to be one of the next great academy talents at Manchester United. The Russian-born youngster, who represents England at youth level, has already featured multiple times above his age grade in the United academy setup.
He’ll be looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow academy graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho by being fast-tracked to the first-team squad, but he still has a lot of developing to do yet. He is only 16 after all.
Nevertheless, he’s making big waves for such a young talent, already knocking about with some of the biggest sporting superstars in the world.
Amir Ibragimov relaxes on holiday with Wayne Rooney
Ibragimov has been enjoying the off-season away from football, by relaxing with family on holiday in Dubai.
But as we’ve seen so far, it hasn’t just been Amir and his family present. Initially, he was spotted on the beach with Wayne Rooney and his son Kai, who is also thriving in the academy setup.
This was taken this week before Rooney embarked on Germany to provide coverage for the Euro 2024 tournament.
However, just days later, the wonderkid has also been spotted with someone arguably bigger in the sporting world.
Amir Ibragimov knocking around with sporting greats
Ibragimov took to Instagram on Saturday to post a picture of himself training with UFC megastar – Khabib Nurmagomedov.
A two-time world champion in combat sambo, Nurmagomedov has a background in wrestling, judo, and sambo. Nurmagomedov was ranked #1 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings at the time of his retirement.
He is one of the world’s biggest names. He boasts a whopping 37.3 million followers, that’s even more than Real Madrid and England megastar, Jude Bellingham (33.5 million).
Manchester United may finally have a proper warrior on the pitch again soon if Nurmagomedov has passed any wise words or techniques onto the academy star.
What a week for the youngster, it must be surreal meeting a lot of these stars. But is this just a taste of the stardom set to come in the future? Only time will tell.
