Sky Sports: Everton are ‘interested’ in summer signing of Premier League winger who is ready to leave his club

Everton had enjoyed a relatively quiet start to the summer window, but in the last two weeks, that has all changed.

Now, incoming and outbound transfers are being touted at every corner, and after welcoming Tim Iroegbunam to Goodison Park, Sean Dyche is now seemingly already moving on to his next target.

However, this particular transfer would mark an intriguing one, given the Premier League side in question are also seeking to pry a player from Everton too.

We could therefore see some kind of deal struck which adheres to PSR, boosts their respective financial positions, and favours the Toffees above all else.

Everton want Yankuba Minteh transfer this summer

The latest on Everton’s summer window comes courtesy of Sky Sports, who actually sought to detail Newcastle United’s efforts to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

However, buried beneath that notion was an alternative acquisition that Everton are seeking to make, as it reads: ‘In a separate deal, Everton are interested in signing Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh.

‘The 19-year-old spent a successful season with Arne Slot’s Feyenoord last year but has never played a game for Newcastle.

‘However, there are a number of European clubs also interested in Minteh and preparing to rival Everton’s potential offer.’

This coincided with the words of Minteh’s agent, who has since admitted that the teenager is ready to leave Tyneside should the opportunity present itself: ‘We have agreed terms with one club. Now the rest is with Newcastle.

‘It is correct that Newcastle are willing to sell the player if they receive a good offer.’

How good is Yankuba Minteh?

It is a testament to the talent of Minteh that Newcastle United fans are so intent on the club retaining the Gambian winger, despite him having never actually played for their first team.

He is widely regarded as a player who is destined for great things within the sport, and has earned adulation wherever he has gone already.

Eddie Howe has been one such name to laud the youngster, but also new Liverpool boss Arne Slot praised him last season, when the two shared a campaign with Feyenoord.

The Dutchman claimed: ‘He certainly doesn’t lack self-confidence. His willingness to give everything is enormous. When we see his statistics, it is really impressive. Minteh ran more sprint meters against Ajax in an hour than many players in the two games. He is incredibly fast. And he wants it so badly.’

These are traits that would instantly endear him to a Goodison Park crowd, with his ten goals and six assists in just 26 league games last season, from the right wing, another bonus.

With a St James’ Park exit seemingly on the cards, Everton must make sure it is they who win this battle.
