Report: Bundesliga club now want to sign Liverpool player who Jurgen Klopp labelled 'a brilliant footballer'

Liverpool have a long list of talented youngsters among their ranks, many of which burst onto the scene last season.

Jurgen Klopp turned to many academy graduates due to the injury situation in the first team, and they certainly stepped up to the plate.

Their most notable success came in the League Cup final, with the Reds defeating Chelsea at Wembley despite their very youthful side.

It remains to be seen what approach new manager Arne Slot will take with young players, but he would be wise to follow a similar approach to Klopp.

Experienced senior players will, of course, be the priority, but the more youthful players will help bring a fresh approach to things.

RB Leipzig want to sign Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton

One young player who was, however, away from the scene last time out was Tyler Morton, with the midfielder having spent the season on loan at Hull City.

The Liverpool academy graduate made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Tigers, with his manager at the time Liam Rosenior labelling the midfielder ‘outstanding’.

And according to The Times, he also caught the eye of several others, with German giants RB Leipzig now wanting to sign Morton on a permanent deal.

The publication added that the 21-year-old is also wanted by Sevilla, Feyenoord, Eintracht Frankfurt and a handful of Premier League clubs, with loan interest also coming from the Championship.

Does Tyler Morton have a future at Liverpool under Arne Slot?

Klopp was clearly a big fan of the England Under-21 midfielder, once describing Morton as ‘a brilliant footballer’, but evidently wanted his game to be developed elsewhere.

That initially came with a temporary move to Blackburn Rovers, where the midfielder made 46 appearances.

More invaluable experience has now followed at Hull, where he was joined in the second half of the season by Liverpool teammate Fabio Carvalho.

The latter has revealed talks with the former about a fresh start for the pair at their parent club, with both now back at Anfield after their loan spells.

But Morton may not return to Merseyside, where he has nine appearances to his name, given the vast interest in his services.

A fringe player, the Reds may look to move him on permanently this summer in order to raise funds for new signings.

Moreover, as an academy product, Morton’s sale would go a long way in helping Liverpool avoid any financial fair play sanctions.
