Report: ‘Incredibly fast’ player has just agreed to join another club after claims Liverpool want to sign him

Liverpool simply need to strengthen their squad this summer under Arne Slot, with the transfer window now open.

The new man in the dugout needs all the help he can get to immediately hit the ground running at Anfield.

And he should be backed by the powers that be on Merseyside, with FSG certainly backing Jurgen Klopp over the years.

It remains to be seen, however, exactly which positions Slot will prioritise. That could come down to which players leave Anfield this summer.

Keeping hold of the star men will be as equally as important as who comes in, with the Reds unable to lose their key players, having just lost Klopp.

But one area that has already been discussed as a priority is wing, with David Ornstein reporting that Liverpool are currently looking for a new wide player.

And one player who the Reds may focus on in particular is Newcastle United’s Yankuba Minteh, with Liverpool having expressed an interest in the ‘incredibly fast’ winger.

His future has now been decided upon, with his agent telling the Chronicle Live: “I can’t confirm clubs who are in communication with us.

“We have agreed terms with one of the clubs. So now the rest is with Newcastle.”

Will Liverpool continue to pursue Yankuba Minteh this summer?

Minteh is a player that Slot knows very, very well, with the young winger having spent last season on loan at Feyenoord.

Newcastle snapped up the Gambia international from Odense BK last summer, but felt the teenager needed more experience, so a loan deal was agreed with Slot’s old side.

And it seems to have worked out perfectly, with the 19-year-old registering tallies of 11 goals and six assists from his 37 Feyenoord appearances.

Moreover, the Gambian picked up vital Champions League experience last time out, playing against the likes of Atletico Madrid and Celtic.

The young winger, who can play on either side, scored against the Scottish giants, as well as banging in 10 Eredivisie goals.

Whether or not Liverpool pursue a move for the attacker remains to be seen, but it seems that he would provide a superb option for the Reds next season, most likely from the bench in his early stages at Anfield.
