Brilliant 23-yo will cost West Ham £11m but surprise, surprise, Forest could hijack deal - report

West Ham United face yet more competition from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window it seems.

Nottingham Forest have already proven to be somewhat problematic for West Ham in the summer transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui has so much work to do in the transfer market this summer, but Forest are threatening to scupper some of his plans.

Firstly, it seems like they are leading the race to sign Carlos Miguel, in spite of West Ham’s attempts to beat them to the goalkeeper’s signature.

Brazilian centre-back Vitao is another player who the East Midlands outfit are trying to steal from the Hammers’ grasp.

Then it emerged that Forest could hijack West Ham’s attempts to sign Bradley Locko from Brest this summer.

And now, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could be set to throw yet another spanner into the works for West Ham…

Nottingham Forest could hijack West Ham summer transfer window deal

This seems to be a recurring theme for us this summer unfortunately.

One Hammers target after another appear to be finding their way into the crosshairs of Nottingham Forest.

The latest Lopetegui target to be chased by Forest is Jayden Oosterwolde, according to a report from Turkish publication Takvim.

West Ham have been told to pay just £11 million for the 23-year-old – a real bargain in this day and age.

The Hammers have made an enquiry for the Fenerbahce left-back already this summer.

He would be a superb signing for the East London outfit. Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Oosterwolde is an incredibly physically robust defender, he has pace and power in abundance and is ideally suited to the Premier League.

In 27 Super Lig outings for Fenerbahce last season, he averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.3 successful aerial duels and 2.1 clearances per game (Who Scored).

Nottingham Forest’s interest in signing the Dutchman will certainly be an inconvenience for the Hammers.

However, the good news is that West Ham are in a far stronger position than Forest in the summer transfer window.

The East Midlands outfit are flirting very close to trouble regarding the new PSR guidelines, whilst the Hammers are in good shape.

I think if Lopetegui really wants to sign Oosterwolde, he shouldn’t have any problems in doing so, in spite of Forest’s apparent interest in the left-back.
