Police investigating a sex attack in an alleyway have arrested a man.
Yesterday afternoon officers were alerted to an assault which reportedly happened in the early hours of the morning in Pencester Road, Dover.
The street was cordoned off yesterday at both ends and forensics were at the scene.
A suspect was later arrested in connection with the incident, which is understood to have happened in an alleyway.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.58pm yesterday to a report of a sexual assault that had taken place between midnight and 2.40am that day in Pencester Road, Dover.
“Officers attended and the area was secured while inquiries were carried out.
“Later that day, officers arrested a 59-year-old man in connection with the incident. He remains in custody pending further inquiries.”
