Germany defender Rüdiger an injury concern ahead of Euros last 16

Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger left the pitch apaprently in pain after the 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Sunday and could be a concern ahead of the Euro 2024 last 16.

Rüdiger euphorically celebrated Niclas Füllkrug's late equalizer in stoppage-time, but was on the floor after the final whistle.

"Antonio has problems with his thigh. I hope it's nothing serious," coach Julian Nagelsmann told broadcasters Magenta TV.

There are no details of a potential injury for now.

Rüdiger's absence in the last 16 on Saturday would be particularly bitter after his pair in the centre of the defence, Jonathan Tah, will be missing due to a yellow card suspension.

"We brought in Nico (Schlotterbeck) early on and Waldi (Waldemar Anton) is also ready. We have enough quality," Nagelsmann stressed.

Nagelsmann was able to start the same line-up in all three group matches, but will be forced to make at least one change for the game in Dortmund, where they will face the Group C runners-up.
