Bayern Munich win if Manchester United complete £34m deal, but Old Trafford success could embarrass them

Manchester United are looking to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, a deal viewed with interest in Germany.

Manchester United fans are waiting for this transfer window to explode into life. As we enter the last week of June, it is all talk and no action.

One of the players being talked about is striker Joshua Zirkzee, who has a release clause in his Bologna contract that becomes active from July 1.

iNews report United are ‘closing in’ on Zirkzee, moving ahead of AC Milan in the quest to buy the Netherlands international.

Bayern Munich profit from Zirkzee move

German giants Bayern Munich previously had Joshua Zirkzee on their books, before he quit the club in pursuit of first team football.

But in letting Zirkzee leave, Bayern inserted a couple of interesting clauses into the deal, one of which lets them receive a big financial boost.

According to Sport Bild, Bayern will receive a staggering 50 per cent of the profit made on Zirkzee’s sale. This would see them receive at least £10 million.

It would be a welcome extra financial boost for Bayern, and leave them, for now, looking on at his transfer to Manchester United, as one of the winners from any deal.

United can make Bayern look silly

Bayern might also be casting an eye at Joshua Zirkzee’s potential move to Manchester United and feeling a little nervous.

If Zirkzee succeeds at Old Trafford and becomes a big hit, Bayern will be wondering exactly how they managed to let him slip through their grasp, not just once, but twice.

That’s because Bayern actually have a buy-back clause in their deal with Bologna, enabling them to bring him back this summer.

It doesn’t look like they will choose to exercise it, and Zirkzee might not wish to go back and play second fiddle to Harry Kane, just like he previously did to Robert Lewandowski.

But this could be a mistake from Bayern, to fail to push for him, or to try and convince Zirkzee that he has a place in their squad.

Zirkzee is seven years younger than Kane, and while they have a top striker in the present, Manchester United would be investing in the future, adding him up top along wth Rasmus Hojlund.

If Zirkzee continues his development and takes his game to a new level at United, Bayern’s £10 million or so sell-on fee will be worthless, compared to what the Dutchman would cost then.
