WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

CaneSport continues its State of The U series with a closer position by position look, unfiltered and objective, based on what Miami has returning, the projections and whether this will be an improved unit or not. Check out our in-depth look at the tight end and offensive line positions. At tight end the team should have a much improved group – it better! And the O line is shaping up to be one of the best in the ACC and should really dominate if a fifth starter steps up.

There’s also our continuing analysis of the top 50 roster players, giving insight onto this team’s talent level and depth. Check out our closer look at No. 8 Francis Mauigoa, No. 7 Andy Borregales and No. 6 Jalen Rivers. All three will be major keys to Miami’s success this year.

In recruiting?

A lot of news.

There was the big commitment yesterday from Ezekiel Marcelin, and we brought that breaking news to you as well as his coach’s take on what the Canes landed.

Ezekiel Marcelin

Plus it was another massive official visit weekend. We had all the news coming out of it including exit interviews, so be sure to check out what the recruits were telling us coming out of their time at Miami.

Then there was our update with Orlando (Fla.) Jones four-star quarterback Dereon Coleman, who spent another weekend on campus and worked with Shannon Dawson. Things are trending in the right direction with him and Miami, so don’t miss that.

We also have an update with a coach’s take of recent OL commit Demetrius Campbell you won’t want to miss.

And be sure to check out our update with QB commit Luke Nickel after he starred at the Elite 11 competition despite an ankle injury.

Another update? For the second straight weekend, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star athlete Derrek Cooper spent his Sunday in Coral Gables after camping in Miami during the Hurricanes’ final prospect camp of the summer. We catch up with him.

As always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Win totals for 2024 … Posted by Canethang

With Miami’s over/under set at 9.5 and Florida at 4.5 … we keep hearing how improved Fla will be. that total seems embarrassingly low.

I’m not a degenerate gambler, but the oddsmakers are usually close. are those totals accurate for the three teams?

I might be tempted to take the under for us, the over in Florida. Figuring 9-3 for us.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

SJ Alofaituli Miami Hurricanes

“I’m liking it down here for sure … It was really the love and the coaches, going to my family and the plan they had for me over here, just the plan, you know? It’s something special for sure. The coaches were loving as always, love my family, love me. Guys like Elija Lofton (from Bishop Gorman) over here, they showed out over spring ball. It’s something I plan to do (if I come here) as well.”
