Southwell U3A extending warm welcome to new members

A community organisation is ready to offer a warm welcome to new members — and age is not a restriction.

Southwell U3A has addressed a “common misconception” that U3A’s are only for people who are over a certain age — but the only qualification for membership is that you are no longer in full-time employment.

The community group — and its 80 odd interest sub-groups — have promised a warm welcome to new members who may feel daunted about joining when the don’t know anyone.

Southwell U3A members can meet new people at coffee mornings and in interest groups.

Prospective members can attend one of the monthly meetings at Southwell Leisure Centre to see what the organisation is all about, with someone on the door to help guide new faces.

They feature a different speaker each month, and are held on the first Tuesday of every month, starting at 10am and ending at 12pm.

Members can attend the informal coffee mornings at Southwell Garden Centre to get themselves a drink and enjoy a get-together and a chat, or try one of the variety of interest groups to find new friends with similar interests.
