Player tipped to play for his country now passes medical with Nottingham Forest - journalist

Nottingham Forest are now edging ever closer to their second signing of the summer transfer window.

The Reds landed Marko Stamenic last week with the New Zealand player joining Olympiacos on a season-long loan.

Now another player looks set to join the club in the way of giant goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.

Some news has come to light this afternoon that should excite Forest supporters and a new goalkeeper now looks to be close to completion.

Forest have struggled with goalkeepers since Brice Samba signed for Lens in the summer of 2022.

Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas did decent jobs during 2022/23 but Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos both struggled last season.

Matz Sels finished the campaign as the club’s number one goalie and it looks as though he might be about to get some competition for his place.

Carlos Miguel takes step closer to Nottingham Forest transfer

It would appear as if this one is now gathering pace and hopefully, the move can be confirmed this week.

Forest have now given a medical to Miguel and according to journalist Marco Bello Jr, he has passed with flying colours.

He said on X: “Carlos Miguel underwent physical tests commissioned by Nottingham Forest and passed all.

“This was the first step for the English club to finalise the transaction with Corinthians.

“NOTE: No ankle problems appeared during the test.”

The 25-year-old has had some ankle problems previously but it’s been claimed that nothing has been picked up on the checks.

Miguel hasn’t played the last two games for Corinthians as he irons out the details of his move to Forest.

Now, the 6ft 7in goalkeeper looks set to check in and the deal feels like a formality now.

Miguel could light up the City Ground

The Brazilian has been tipped to play for the Brazil national team by one journalist and he looks like a good addition.

Forest have some work to do in the transfer market before the window closes and some players will have to leave too.

Miguel is a giant of a man and he will cut an imposing figure between the posts for Forest next season.

He will only cost the club £3.4 million and ultimately, Forest see this deal as a no-brainer given the low outlay.

Much like Murillo had to last season, Miguel will have to prove himself in the Premier League.

If he has half the impact that the centre-back has on Trentside, the Forest fan base could be in for a treat with Miguel.
