'I know it': Callum Hudson-Odoi predicts what's going to happen with Phil Foden at Euro 2024

Callum Hudson-Odoi has made a fresh claim about Phil Foden after being quizzed about his displays for England at Euro 2024.

Hudson-Odoi and Foden were famously a part of England’s Under-17 World Cup-winning team that took place in India in 2017.

The Manchester City midfielder won the Golden Ball during the tournament.

When Foden and Hudson-Odoi broke through at City and Chelsea respectively, they were often compared to each other as well.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has his say on Phil Foden amid Euro 2024 criticism

The now-Nottingham Forest winger was one of the hottest prospects in English football at the time.

While the six-time Premier League winner has always been viewed as a player who will develop into a world-class superstar, especially under Pep Guardiola’s guidance.

Having played with Foden and knowing him personally, Hudson-Odoi feels he will come good at the European Championship.

The 23-year-old told Sky Sports: “I know Phil [Foden]. Phil’s a top, top player, we can all see throughout the whole season that he’s a top player and he’s obviously won [the Premier League] Player of the Year [award] as well so everybody can see that.”

“You know that obviously, he’s going to get better throughout the tournament. Everybody knows this, I know it as well, we’ve seen how much of an amazing quality he has, he has the talent and the ability so the criticism for him now, I think he’ll even use it as determination, even more encouragement to even push himself and get better, so I think he’ll do well in the tournament, he’ll be fine.”

Phil Foden has a chance to prove Callum Hudson-Odoi right against Slovenia

As England face Slovenia on Tuesday, Foden has the chance to prove Hudson-Odoi right.

It seems likely that the £225,000-a-week man will keep his place in the side, especially considering his improved display in England’s 1-1 draw against Denmark.

However, in tournament football, even some of the very best players can lose their places, as indicated by Cristiano Ronaldo’s exclusion from Portugal’s games against Switzerland and Morocco at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

As a result, for the 24-year-old to guarantee his starting place in the Round of 16 clash, it would certainly help his case if he delivered against Slovenia.

Cesc Fabregas has urged the decorated attacker and Jude Bellingham to work together to form a strong bond that can help them on the pitch.

As Foden prepares for England’s upcoming contest, he will be buoyed by the fact that Hudson-Odoi remains one of many who still back him to perform in Germany.
