The Chinese company Titan Wind Energy has announced plans to build foundations for offshore wind turbines in Cuxhaven, a city on Germany's North Sea coast.

A final investment decision has been made to build a new factory with the company planning to invest up to €300 million ($322 million). Production of the foundations, known as monopiles, is expected to begin in 2025, creating more than 600 jobs.

The announcement was welcomed by the federal and state economics ministries and by the city of Cuxhaven.

Stefan Wenzel, a top official in the federal Economy Ministry, highlighted the investment decision as significant.

Founded in 2005 in Suzhou, China, Titan Wind Energy produces and sells parts for wind turbines. The company already has two production facilities in Europe, including one in Denmark.

The port of Cuxhaven handles a significant number of wind turbine components and is considered crucial for Germany's energy transition.

Port operator, Niedersachsen Ports, plans to expand the port to accommodate more turbine parts, enhancing its capacity for storage and handling.
