The Night Manager will return for two more seasons

Created in 2016, the adaptation of John le Carré’s novel The Night Manager quickly became a hit. The mixture of espionage, Tom Hiddleston’s charm and the inclusion of several other British stars resulted in a huge success.

The series won three Golden Globes (for Olivia Colman, Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie’s acting performances) and was the most-watched TV show of 2016 in the UK. However, The Night Manager ended after just one season, leaving fans hungry for more.

While there were some timid rumours of a series comeback a year ago, specific information has only recently been revealed. In cooperation with Amazon, the BBC will create two more seasons of The Night Manager.

While the biggest wave of Tom Hiddlestone’s popularity may have passed, many fans are certainly looking forward to his return as the clever spy. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming season of the show.

When could The Night Manager season 2 be released?

Filming for the new season will begin later this year. However, the premiere date of The Night Manager season 2 is unknown. Based on the filming date, we estimate that the earliest it could appear is mid-2025.

The second instalment of the show will consist of 6 episodes.

In the UK, The Night Manager season 2 will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. In the US, the series will stream on Prime Video.

You can see the first season of the spy thriller on both platforms.

Here’s the trailer for season 1:

What will the plot of The Night Manager season 2 be?

So far, the plot of season 2 remains unknown. The BBC only revealed that the action will take place eight years after the events of the season 1 finale.

The first season featured all the events of le Carré’s book, so the further storyline will depend solely on the series’ screenwriters.

As David Farr, creator of the series, said:

Who are the cast and crew of The Night Manager season 2?

It has been confirmed that Tom Hiddleston will return as agent Jonathan Pine.

Season 2 will also feature Olivia Colman, who will again play intelligence officer Angela Burr.

Other cast members will include:

  • Alistair Petrie – Alexander “Sandy” Langbourne
  • Douglas Hodge – Rex Mayhew
  • Michael Nardone – Frisky
  • Noah Jupe – Danny Roper
  • Diego Calva
  • Camila Morrone
  • Indira Varma
  • Paul Chahidi
  • Hayley Squires

For now, it’s unknown whether Hugh Laurie who played Dicky Roper and Elizabeth Debicki, who previously portrayed Jed, Pine’s love interest, will return in season 2.

The series is written by David Farr, who is also an executive producer along with Hugh Laurie. All episodes of The Night Manager will be directed by Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie, Paper Girls).
