Fundraiser For North Carolina Family Tortured During Horrific Home Invasion Passes $15K Goal

A fundraiser created for the family of five that were tortured during a horrific home invasion in North Carolina earlier this month has surpassed its $15,000 goal.

Mayra Morales-Scott, the sister of victim Maricela Morales, set up a GoFundMe to help the family deal with medical costs as they attempt to rebuild their lives.

Morales-Scott revealed that her sister, brother-in-law, and their three children are suffering physically, emotionally, and mentally as a result of the terrifying ordeal.

"This GoFundMe campaign is to help the Morales family with health care costs as a result of what they experienced, to purchase items that can be replaced, and to assist with anything they need to support them in navigating this traumatic and invasive event," wrote Morales-Scott.

Authorities are still investigating why the family was targeted so viciously.

The robbers stole a cache of items after torturing the two parents and three young children for hours by savagely heating up knives and using them to burn their flesh.

After thoroughly ransacking the home, the criminals fled the scene in two stolen vehicles.

Residents on the usually sleepy North Carolina street remain on edge as the suspects are still at large.
