Searches launched in the Swiss mountains for several missing people

After storms and heavy rainfall over the weekend, a search was launched in Switzerland on Monday for several people in lost in the country's famous mountains and surroundings.

In the Misox Valley in Graubünden, two people were still missing after they were not located following a landslide on Friday evening, the police reported. Initially, four people were buried. One woman was rescued on Saturday and the body of a man was recovered on Sunday.

In the Bernese Alps, a search was launched on Monday for three missing persons. According to the police, a father with a small child fell into the Giessbach waterfall on Sunday. He had been on a hike with his wife and a second toddler. Why the two fell is still being investigated. The search for them continued on Monday.

Elsewhere, in Simmertal, a woman fell into the Iffigbach stream on Saturday. She had been travelling with a companion. There was still no trace of her on Monday.

A sunken sail boat and a body were found at a depth of 80 metres in Lake Zug on Monday. The boat had sunk in an accident during a regatta on Saturday. Two men were rescued, but a 56-year-old man has been missing ever since. Preparations were made for to recover the boat and the body on Monday.
